ANCHORS AWAY

“Baby Come Home” is like a really great playgirl video, that brings their personal blend of quirky colorful pop to a much broader audience. Coming straight out of the spotlight with the previous video “Only The Horses” from their newly released album “Magic hour”, they reenter with an eclectic theme that sees them dressed as sailors, vikings and nuns.
MODERN DAY GEISHA, KYOTO JAPAN

“The Geisha system was founded, actually, to promote the independence and economic self-sufficiency of women. And that was its stated purpose, and it actually accomplished that quite admirably in Japanese society, where there were very few routes for women to achieve that sort of independence.”— Mineko Iwasaki(The most successful Geisha of all times, who was the inspiration for “Memoirs of a Geisha” )

GHOST TREES, PAKISTAN

Pakistan’s flooding in 2010 caused millions of spiders to climb up the trees to escape the rising flood waters. As the water took so long to recede, many trees eventually became cocooned in spiderwebs. This is a phenomenom never seen by the people in the area, who also said that the amount of mosquitoes and mosquito bites had been remarkably less. A small blessing for people that lost everything in the floods.

It’s Memorial Day everybody! While we take this time to honor the men and women who served, it is also comforting to know that we can have our break from the horrid weekly routine. For those who traveled away from the big city, those who stayed and enjoyed the great weather, and those who don’t really celebrate Memorial Day for numerous reasons, here goes the best part of every week in our blog.
You know the drill: ten songs featuring the newest, timeless and most diverse sounds out there. Don’t bore us, get to the chorus and make this your personal playlist for Monday till Sunday.
TAKE BACK THE MEDALS

“Instead of liberating the (Iraqi) people, I was liberating their oil fields.”

“No amount of medals ribbons or flags can cover the amount of human suffering caused by these wars. We don’t want this garbage, we want our right to heal, we want our human rights.”

“Our enemies are not 7,000 miles from home, they sit in boardrooms, they are CEOs, they are bankers, they are hedge fund managers… they are not the men and women that are standing on this police line, they are millionaires and billionaires that control this planet and they can have their medals back.”
FITTA, HAPPIER, MORE PRODUCTIVE

When you hear the word Quakers you might think of a religious society, or even oat-based breakfast cereals, but now there’s a new bunch of cats claiming the name. This 35-member collective’s moniker is actually a reference to “earthquakes” and they are certainly shaking things up when it comes to their unique brand of hip-hop.
